Location
The map below shows the location of Khánh Hòa coal mine, the approximate location where the plant will be built in Quán Triều commune, Thái Nguyên district, Thái Nguyên province.
Background
In May 2008, Viet-Trung Electricity Joint Stock Company announced that it would build a $125 million, 100-MW coal-fired power plant near the Khánh Hòa coal mining field.[1] Subsequent announcements regarding this plant are not available; it is possible that Viet-Trung Electricity JSC's proposal was superseded by that of An Khánh Thermo-Power JSC, which is currently building the 100-MW An Khanh-1 power plant on a site near the Khánh Hòa coal mine.
