Background

The project is being investigated by Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL). It would be based on coal from the Ramchandi block. Waste coal from the washery (80,000 barrels per day) is proposed to be used as fuel for a 1,350 MW power station associated with the project.[1]

Project status

As of August 2014, given the lack of progress toward receiving further environmental permits, it appears that the project has been put on hold or abandoned.
