Background

The commissioning date of the project is unknown but power will be sold to the Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB).[1] The project has been proposed by MIRACH Power to be built near Pokhrawan and Lai villages in Lakhisarai district, Bihar, India.

The project was approved by the Bihar State Investment Promotion Board in August 2010.[2] BSEB notes that the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the project in November 2010. The MOU, BSEB notes, remains valid for 13 months. BSEB also notes that in September 2010 the company was granted approval to extract 40 cusecs of water from the Ganga River and will require 1000 acres of land. BSEB has "the first right to claim to purchase / refusal of power up to 25 % maximum from the proposed power plant," BSEB states.[3]

However, as of 2014 the project has not received environmental clearance, and appears to have been abandoned. On its website, project proponent Mirach Energy describes itself as an oil and gas company, with no discussion of coal.[4]
