Background on Project
Construction of the plant's two 7-MW units began in 2011 and was completed in 2014.[1]
Proposed Expansion
In 2018 it was announced that two additional units of 30-MW each will be built at the plant.[1]
Environmental Impact
In March 2018 residents protested the dumping of coal waste near the plant, and challenged the plant's promise to properly dispose of 7,000 tons of waste, claiming the true figure is 35,000 tons.[2]
