Krieble Institute and Foundation
This organisation (a think-tank and global network) was named after Vernon K Krieble, the co-founder with Antony Fisher of the Atlas Foundation and Atlas Network of libertarian think-tanks. They earned money by providing third-party lobbying services to companies and industries having poisoning and polluting problems.
The main people involved in these interconnecting operations were Robert Krieble and Paul Weyrich. This is largely a family operation (the Krieble's own the Loctite Corporation) with sons and daughters involved.
The Krieble Institute itself is actually an offshoot of the Free Congress Foundation, which was itself an offshoot of the Heritage Foundation and had links to the Cato Institute (See Page 41) [1][2]. The same group of libertarians and lobbyists also ran the National Empowerment Television (NET) operation, which Philip Morris funded generously.
Paul Dietrich (mentioned here) worked as a full-time lobbyist for Philip Morris, and his wife Laura Jordan Dietrich with the key aide to John Bolton and also a UN Human Rights Ambassador. [3] The Institute for International Health and Development was a front operation controlled by Philip Morris to attack the World Health Organisation.
Krieble had branches of their think-tanks across Europe, extending into the old Soviet areas of East Europe. Much of their funding came from associated companies which were anxious to be in a position to buy up newly privatised operations in these areas at the end of the Cold War.
In December 1994 Paul Weyrich and Krieble were asking Philip Morris for $500,000 as a general support grant. The Free Congress Foundation was listed with the Krieble Institute and NET on the same letterhead. [4]
Also interconnected in some unknown way is "The Rothenberg Political Report -- and Nonpartisan Analysis of American Politics and Elections." (same address in 1992 and 1995) Stuart Rothenberg was said to be editor and publisher. [5]
More recently (2009) the Institute is involved in organisating and extending the reach of the Atlas Economic Research Foundation in Europe. [6]
