Background
The project is mentioned in a brief news item in Eleven Myanmar. According to the article, 24 Hour Mining and Industry Ltd. is seeking to build a 500 MW coal plant in Ramazu region of Launglon Township.[1]
In March 2015 it was reported that although the ministry had signed memoranda of understanding (MoU) with foreign and local companies for 12 different coal-fired power stations around the country, it was still working to gain public acceptance and had not advanced beyond the MoU stage for any of the projects, including Launglon power station. Cwave Global was also listed as a sponsor.[2]
In March 2016 about 400 residents protested the permitting of the project by the outgoing government. The new administration would have to decide whether to push ahead with the project.[3]
As of December 2019 there have been no further developments on the project, and plans appear shelved.
