Background

The plant runs on a combination of coal imported from Colombia and Venezuela, and bagasse, or sugar cane waste. It is located next to the Gardel sugar factory.[1]

In November 2018 Albioma announced that Unit 3 would be converted to run entirely on biomass by 2020.[2]
