Background

According to Industcards, the first power plant at the site was commissioned in 1919 with 12 Babcock boilers totaling 5 MW. In 1920, a 10-MW unit and a 15-MW unit were added to Lucy-I and the original steam set was replaced in 1935 with an 18-MW unit. In 1943. Lucy-II was launched with two 40-MW sets. In 1971, the 270 MW Lucy-III was commissioned and turned over to Societe de Chauffe de Combustibles de Reparations et d'Appareilages (SOCCRAM) in 1977. In 1995, the plant and associated mine was turned over to Charbonnages de France. All local mining stopped in 2000 and E.ON (now Uniper) acquired the plant in 2008. The boiler at one time burned hard coal, brown coal, and pet coke. The unit later used blended imported coal.

It was retired in April 2014.
