Funding

In 1997 they received a grant from the Westminster Foundation "To fund the Media Institute of Southern Africa, an NGO based in Namibia which promotes a free, independent and pluralistic press, to provide support for some of its local chapter offices in the region, to enable them to draw up action plans and develop their activities in early 1997." (see NED database)

"This is the top monitoring organization in Africa. They got $800,000 from the US government. Based in Windhoek, they have chapters in all countries in the region." [2]

According to their 2005 Annual Report:

  • "Total grants received under the basket funding agreement were N$ 14.17 million (USD 2.26 million). This includes the balance of USD 0.34 million brought forward from last year.
