The Magamba power station is a proposed 200-megawatt (MW) coal-fired power station in Tanzania. There have been no development updates in two years and it is presumed to be shelved.

Background

Magamba power station is a proposed 200 MW coal plant listed in Table 1 of the African Affairs journal article "Competing energy narratives in Tanzania: Towards the political economy of coal" by Thabit Jacob. The table states that the Magamba project has reserves of 53 million tonnes. According to a note attached to the table, the information is based on "field visits and interviews with government officials in March–August 2016." There appears to be no other online references to this project.
