Background

Mailiao is a 7 x 600 MW supercritical coal plant in Mailiao, commissioned from 1999 to 2002. The power station is co-owned by the Mai-Liao Power Corporation (MPC) and Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC). Coal is imported via an adjacent coal port.[1][2]

The cost was US$1.16 billion.[3]
