Mark Beam, "was born in Omaha, Nebraska and now lives in Oaxaca, Mexico. In between he has lived and worked in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Mark's interests lie in Social Capital, Collective Intelligence, Art & Technology, Pattern Recognition, Spatial Intelligence and Mapping, and his work merges business, art, entertainment, media and design worlds. Mark is a longtime Board Member of the Leonardo Journal and is currently involved in helping to raise capital for an investment fund of GoodCapital that will invest in companies and non-profit social enterprises." "Mark is a Co-Founder of the Social Capital Markets Conference on money and meaning in San Francisco and a member of the Board of Directors of the Buckminster Fuller Institute that awards $100k annually to designer/scientists solving humanities most pressing problems. Together with Calvert Founder Wayne Silby, Mark initiated a proposal to the Obama Administration to create the Enterprise Innovation Fund within the U.S. Government designed to foster social enterprise development through investment partnerships with private sector initiative and risk capital participation. Before turning his attention to the development of the social capital markets, Mark was a senior executive for several major Wall Street banks in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, and a new media entrepreneur in San Francisco. He continues to live in Oaxaca with his two sons Weston & Sky." [2]
