Mark D. Myers
Dr. Mark D. Myers, of Alaska, was nominated May 3, 2006, by President George W. Bush to be Director of the U.S. Geological Survey at the U.S. Department of the Interior. [1] Myers would replace Dr. Charles G. Groat, who resigned effective June 17, 2005. [2]

Earlier in his career, he was a Petroleum Geologist for the State of Alaska Division of Oil and Gas. Dr. Myers received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin. He later received his PhD from the University of Alaska."
