Background

Eskom proposed Matimba-B power station to be built next to its existing Matimba Power Station. The station was to be built in two stages, with a maximum capacity of 4,800 MW. Construction was to start in 2007 and the power station was to be operational by 2010.

However, as of 2015 the project has not progressed and appears to be abandoned.
