McArthur River Mining

McArthur River Mining (MRM) is a a subsidiary of Xstrata that operates the McArthur River Mine in the Northern Territory of Australia. The mine is a major producer of zinc and lead. The mine opened as an underground mining operation in 1995.

In August 2005 announced plans to change the mine to an open-cut operation and is lobbying the Northern Territory government to grant the go-ahead for the project. Joanne Pafumi, the General Manager – Corporate/Organisational Communication with the Brisbane-based PR company Rowland Communication is providing PR support for the project.
