Mel Levine
Mel Levine "is a Partner at the law firm of Gibson, Dunn and Crutcher, where he specializes in international transactions and governmental strategic counseling. From 1983-93, he served in the U.S. Congress, where he was on the foreign affairs, judiciary and interior committees, and was Chair of the House Task Force on Exports and Chair of the Democratic Caucus Task Force on Latin America. He also served in the California State Assembly from 1977-82. Mr. Levine currently serves as U.S. Chair of the U.S.-Israel-Palestine "anti incitement" committee established by the Wye Plantation peace agreement and is a member of the U.S.-Israel Science and Technology Advisory Commission. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he founded and Co-chaired Rebuild America, an educational foundation to improve U.S. competitiveness, and from 1993-97 served, at the request of Vice President Al Gore, as Co-President of Builders for Peace, the private sector effort to assist the Middle East peace process. He was recently named one of the "100 Most Influential" lawyers in California."[1]
