Melanie Morgan

Melanie Morgan is the chairwoman of the "pro-troop," pro-Iraq war group Move America Forward. Until March 2008, she also hosted a conservative radio talk show on KSFO in San Francisco, California, owned by ABC Radio Networks/Citadel Broadcasting.[1]

Morgan also works with Russo Marsh & Rogers, a public relations firm that specializes in electing Republican candidates; with help from the Pentagon, ran "Truth Tours" to Iraq for right-wing US media personalities; and receives funding from Iraqi Kurds to run advertisements on American television stations thanking the United States for the war. Morgan is chairwoman of the Russo Marsh & Rogers-run pro-war lobby Move America Forward.

Morgan is a "frequent guest on Fox News Channel, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, and CBS, she has appeared on the BBC and in newspapers and broadcasts worldwide." She "also spearheaded the 'You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy!' tour and the campaign to recall" Governor Gray Davis. [2]

She is a columnist for WorldNetDaily. She is co-author with Catherine Moy of the book America Mourning (WND Books, October 2006, ISBN 1581825404). Until March 2008, she also hosted a conservative radio talk show on KSFO in San Francisco, California. [1]

Calling for the death of the editor of the New York Times

Morgan gained national notoriety in the summer of 2006 when she suggested that Bill Keller, an editor of the New York Times, be killed in a "gas chamber" for the crime of "treason" after the Times' reporting on US government spying on Americans. [3] In a July 2007 appearance on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews, Morgan repeated her claim that Keller and other journalists who reported on the government's SWIFT program for tracking terrorist bank transactions "should be tried for treason. If they were found guilty of treason, I would have no problem with them being executed." [4]

Questions about her radio show

San Francisco-area blogger "Spocko" wrote, as Move America Forward readied for a counter-protest of the peace group Code Pink: [5]

When I wrote last week about Morgan's heavy promotion on the ABC Radio station, KSFO, of her counter protest to Code Pink's action I was hoping that someone higher up in the ABC Radio corporation or within Citadel Broadcasting would pay attention to Morgan's use of the public airwaves for this action. ...
Maybe someone should clock how much time is devoted to Move America Forward and its requests for money or to sell merchandise on Morgan's site. Check out the week before Sept. 15th or the weeks before today just to give two recent examples. 4-5 minutes an hour, hour after hour, day after day. That must add up.

In March 2008, Morgan announced that KFSO's owner, Citadel Broadcasting, "decided not to renew [her] contract as part of the company’s announced across-the-board financial cost cutting." [1]
