Merloyd Ludington, "Boston book editor-publisher and longtime forest conservation advocate, has been elected a trustee of the Woods Hole Research Center. She joins a board of 23 active members distributed nationally from Massachusetts to California and internationally from Canada to India.

"Ludington co-publishes with the Perseus Books Group under the Merloyd Lawrence imprint and specializes in books on child development, health, natural history and environment. Among notable books under her imprint are Sandra Steingraber’s Living Downstream: An Ecologist Looks at Cancer and the Environment; a comprehensive child health guide with Children’s Hospital Boston; and John Hanson Mitchell’s The Wildest Place on Earth. In 2001 she published You Can’t Eat GNP, by Woods Hole Research Center scientist Eric Davidson, a study of economics “as if ecology mattered.”

"Besides the Woods Hole Research Center, Ludington serves on the board of the New England Forestry Foundation and the Northeast Wilderness Trust. She is also a former trustee of the Massachusetts Audubon Society and Milton Academy.
