Location
The map below shows the location of Kab Mesuji (Mesuji Regency), the approximate location where the plant would be built, in Lampung Province, Sumatra.
Background
In January 2015, the Jakarta Post reported that Hong Kong-based coal mining company Shenhua China Energy had signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Lampung province to build two 350 MW mine-mouth coal plants in Mesuji, Lampung. The MoU also included a commitment to establish other power plants with a total capacity of 6 x 350 MW.[1] In November 2015 the Lampung Provincial government confirmed that it would build a 700-MW plant with financing from Chinese investors.[2] Assembly Member Imer Darius confirmed the Shenhua plan in an April 2016 interview.[3]
As of November 2019 there had been no additional news about this project and it appears to have been cancelled.
