Background on existing power station

The Mettur Thermal Power Station includes the following units:[1]

Stage I

  • Unit 1 - 210 MW - commissioned 1987
  • Unit 2 - 210 MW - commissioned 1987

Stage II

  • Unit 3 - 210 MW - commissioned 1989
  • Unit 4 - 210 MW - commissioned 1990

Stage III

  • Unit 5 - 600 MW - commissioned 2012

600 MW Expansion

The plant was expanded with the addition of a 600 MW unit 5, which was commissioned in October 2012.[2][3][4]
