Michael Gawler "has extensive experience in dealing with business and government at senior levels and is an expert in Indigenous governance and training. He is currently director of a number of companies and conducts a business law practice.

"Since 2006, Michael has been providing a range of governance assistance and director training to traditional owner groups in the Pilbara, Western Australia. He helped them to form an independent company, provided detailed training on company operation and directors’ responsibilities, and produced a handbook to guide Directors in proper company conduct.

"Michael was accredited as a Business Law specialist with the Law Institute of Victoria in 1991. He is a former president of the Law Institute of Victoria and has also sat on the Australian Law Council.

"His range of skills includes dispute resolution, drafting and negotiating contracts, the development of corporate governance and financial protocols, business planning and policy formulation and sound business management.

"Michael is currently managing director of ASPC Group Ltd, an unlisted public company in the financial services and real estate sectors. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University. He lived for many years with his wife and family in Echuca, Victoria where he was involved in a range of corporate and community governance projects." [1]
