Michael Michaelis "President, Partners In Enterprise, Inc,, enhancing the ties between the business and academic communities so as to achieve innovative, beneficial and profitable uses of their complementary resources.

"Before founding "Partners" in 1981, Mr. Michaelis was Manager and Senior Consultant, Washington Office of Arthur D. Little, Inc. He started that office in 1963, and led ADLittle's growth in public affairs work. Clients included all major departments and agencies of the federal government. His own professional activities focused on technological and institutional innovation, as a means for increasing productivity and international competitiveness and as a tool forsynergistic corporate and governmental action.

"In the early 1960's, Mr. Michaelis was a member of the White House Office of Science and Technology. As Executive Director of the White House Panel on Civilian Technology (1961 - 1963), he led the first Presidential Task Force to recommend public and private sector actions designed to advance American industrial leadership through innovation.

"In the 1950s, Mr. Michaelis was a member of the Senior Staff of Arthur D. Little, Inc., in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He started and directed ADLittle's consulting services in nuclear energy, and he performed key tasks in establishing the company as a world-wide consulting organization. His clients included major corporations and financial institutions in the U.S.A and Europe.

"In the 1940's, Mr. Michaelis lived in England, where he was a research physicist/engineer, and group leader at the Research Laboratories of the General Electric Co. Ltd. He was a member of the team that developed radar and related technologies, prior to and during World War II. He also invented numerous electrical and electronic devices for medical diagnosis and therapy. In 1948, he was appointed Director of the Physics Division, Radiochemical Center, U.K. Atomic Energy Authority.

"Mr. Michaelis is a graduate of the University of London, U.K. His professional appointments include:

"First Executive Director, Senior Scientists and Engineers(SSE) program, a national cooperative effort of leading scientific, engineering and medical societies for the purpose of applying the knowledge and experience of senior professionals to the needs of the nation. The program continues to be operated by the American Association for the Advancement of Science."
