Michelle Parlevliet
Michelle Parlevliet "is an independent consultant specialising in human rights, conflict transformation and peacebuilding. She established the Human Rights and Conflict Management Programme at the Centre for Conflict Resolution (Cape Town, South Africa) in 1999 and managed it for nearly six years, during which two independent assessments commended the programmes innovative and pioneering work on the intersection between human rights and conflict management. She has worked extensively with organisations in Africa and Europe, providing training, facilitation, and technical assistance, and has published widely on rights and peacebuilding, conflict transformation, transitional justice, and the role of civil society. She has served as a lead facilitator for the United Nations System Staff College on its project on early warning and preventive measures since 2002. She is the chief editor of a forthcoming book on national human rights institutions in Africa and their role in conflict management and peacebuilding, and is the author of the course on Conflict Prevention for national human rights institutions developed by OHCHR, Fahamu and UNSSC."
