Minoru Makihara
Minoru Makihara "is Chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation and serves as Vice Chairman of the KEIDANREN (The Japan Federation of Economic Organizations). He also holds various other positions with the KEIDANREN including the Chairman of the Committee on Trade & Investment. He is Chairman of the Japan-U.S. Business Council and a board member of IBM, Ripplewood Holdings L.L.C., the Shinsei Bank, Ltd. and Ayala Corporation etc. He also serves as a member of the International Investment Committee of President Mbeki of South Africa, the Millennium Board of President Pastrana of Colombia, the International Advisory Council of Allianz AG, the Asia Pacific Advisory Committee of the New York Stock Exchange Inc., Executive Committee of the Trilateral Commission and Chairman's Council of DaimlerChrysler AG etc. He graduated from Harvard University in 1954 and joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1956. Prior to being appointed President in 1992, he was General Manager of the Washington Office of Mitsubishi International Corporation, U.S.A. (1971) and later President of Mitsubishi International Corporation (1987). He was appointed Chairman of Mitsubishi Corporation in 1998." [1]
