Miriam Zimmerman

Miriam Zimmerman is currently the managing director of York Zimmerman. She "began her documentary career in 1985, researching and writing funding proposals for public television. Since then she has worked on more than two dozen programs for PBS, cable and the networks. Credits include field producer on Frontline's Throwaway People (winner of a Robert F. Kennedy Humanitarian Award) and NOVA's Can You Believe TV Ratings? and associate producer on the Emmy-award winning The Education of Admiral Watkins for PBS's The AIDS Quarterly, Frontline's The Politics of Prosperity, and NOVA's We Know Where You Live.

"In the early 1990s, Zimmerman researched, developed and wrote treatments for a number of National Geographic projects, including the Emmy-award winning Explorer, Last Voyage of the Lusitania, and NGS Specials on caves and water. She was supervising writer for The Red Bomb, the Discovery Channel's three-part mini-series on the Soviet development of the atom bomb. She also served as Story Editor on the NBC series, Lost Civilizations which won the 1996 Emmy for Outstanding Informational Series.

"Since joining forces with Steve York in 1995, Zimmerman has shepherded numerous hours of programs from conception through to post production, and has overseen travel to more than a dozen countries, production on five continents, and footage and stills acquisition from more than 60 archival sources around the world. A researcher and writer, she is also responsible for all business matters for York Zimmerman Inc. Zimmerman graduated with honors from Vassar College in 1982 with a B.A. in English." [1]
