Background

In 2017 the Bangladesh government said it planned to install an onshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Moheshkhali with the capacity to handle 7.5 million tonnes of gas annually. In March 2017 Petrobangla floated an international tender seeking proposals from interested parties to construct the terminal. Ten global firms from Japan, the USA, South Korea, and China along with consortiums of other countries have reportedly submitted expressions of interest (EoI) for the job.[1]
