Biographical Information
Ms. Willard helped organize the first United Religions Initiative gathering "in New York in 1997 and signed the URI Charter in June 2000 at the United Nations garden. She has been at the UN since 1991, representing The Ribbon International and Pathways to Peace before representing the URI in 2002. Ms. Willard chaired the annual DPI NGO Conference in 1996 and continues to work with the Department of Public Information on the annual International Day of Peace Youth Observance. Since 2005, Ms. Willard has worked with member states and the UN system agencies to promote interfaith dialogue and cooperation for peace. As the URI NGO representative, her current projects include the International Day of Peace on Sept. 21 and the Tripartite Forum, a partnership with member states, UN system agencies and religious non-government organizations (NGOs) to promote Interfaith cooperation for peace. Most recently, she has worked with the Steering Committee to create a general assembly resolution that proclaims a “decade for interreligious cooperation for peace and Understanding.” “Representing the URI at the UN provides a network of people from 67 countries for the work of the UN and affords me the wonderful opportunity to share the work of the URI with member states,” she says."[1]
