Mt Owen mine

{{#badges: CoalSwarm|Navbar-Australiacoal}} The Mt Owen mine is one of three opne cut mines which form the Mt Owen Complex at Hebden in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales, approximately 25 kilometres northwest of Singleton, and 26 kilometres southeast of Muswellbrook. (The other two pits are the Ravensworth East and Glendell open cut coal mines). The mine is located at Hebden in the an open cut coal mine which is currently under construction. The mine is located near Wybong, approximately 20 km west of Muswellbrook and approximately 10 km north of Denman in the Upper Hunter Valley of New South Wales.[1]

History

On its website Xstrata Coal states that "the Mt Owen Complex has approval to extract and process up to 15Mtpa of Run of Mine (ROM) coal. These high quality export thermal and semi-soft coking coals are predominantly exported to South-East Asia for domestic power generation and use in steel produc."[1]
