Background on Plant

In October 2010 Intos INC., Infinite Computer Solution (India) and Eldeco Housing & Industries Ltd together proposed to invest Rs.30 billion to set up a 600 MW plant in Murka. Creative Thermolite Power Pvt Ltd was formed as a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to implement the project.

The project was originally expected to be commissioned by the end of 2014, but was given an 18-month extension on its terms of reference in December 2013, as the project had not yet secured environmental clearance or a coal linkage.

In November 2014 the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission said it had quashed setting up four thermal power plants of over 1700 MW capacity, saying the companies were lagging far behind in completing the projects despite being given two extensions. Projects cancelled included Murka.
