Background

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved construction of the NEXUS Gas Transmission Pipeline in August of 2017.[2] In December of 2017, media reported that workers began clearing trees and preparing construction areas for the project in Lake, Marlboro, Nimishillen, and Washington townships.[3]

The pipeline is expected to be in operation in the third quarter of 2018; however, those in opposition to the pipeline continue to resist.

In October 2018 the pipeline was commissioned.[1]

Opposition

Residents from Medina, Lorain, and Summit counties in Ohio formed the Coalition to Reroute Nexus. The group stands for "property owner rights & use of pipeline safety corridors."[4]
