Nancy L. Lane
Nancy Lane "joined Johnson & Johnson in 1975 as a member of the corporate headquarters administration department. From 1976 until December of 1988, she was Vice President, Human Resources and Administration and a member of the Board of Directors of Ortho Diagnostic Systems, Inc., an operating division of Johnson & Johnson. In October 2000, she retired from her position as a Vice President in the Government Affairs division, Johnson & Johnson worldwide headquarters. She then completed a year-long graduate program in Art History.
"Prior to Johnson & Johnson, she was Vice President of Personnel and Labor Relations for the New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation and was a Vice President of the Chase Manhattan Bank, NA, where she headed all executive and MBA recruiting for the bank.
"While an undergraduate, she attended the University of Oslo in Oslo, Norway and received her BS degree in Public Relations/Journalism from Boston University. Other international activities include serving as a Leader with The Experiment in International Living in Austria and a year as the Deputy to the North American representative at the Coordinating Secretariat of the International Union of Students (COSEC) in Leiden, The Netherlands.
"She holds a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. Ms. Lane is an alumna of the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration, where she completed the Program for Management Development.
"Since 1973, she has served on the Board of Directors of the Studio Museum in Harlem and was the Chair of the Board for two terms. She also serves on the boards of the International Center of Photography, the Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York, World Learning (previously known as The Experiment in International Living) and is now in her third term on the National Board of Directors of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). In the fall of 2004, she became the lead NGO representative for the NAACP at the United Nations.
"Previously, she served two terms as President of the Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York (then the largest HBSC in the world). She has also been the Secretary-Treasurer of the worldwide Harvard Business School Alumni organization; Chair of the Board of Trustees of Bennett College (North Carolina) and a trustee of Wilson College (PA) and Benedict College (SC). She was on the Board of Directors of the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation (completed three terms in June of 2003) and served six years as a member of the Board of Governors of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Ms. Lane has been on the Board and Executive Committee of CATALYST, Vice Chair of A Better Chance, the boards of directors of The Women's Forum and the Tri-State United Way.
"She has been profiled in The New York Times, Fortune, Black Enterprise, BusinessWeek, O, The Oprah Magazine, USA Today and many other publications. Among her many awards is the highest presented by her alma mater the Distinguished Alumni Award from Boston University." [1]
