Background on Plant

According to Binani Industries' 2009-2010 Annual Report, the Government of India in 2007 allocated a lignite coal block in Nagaur district for a captive power station, and "most of the Government clearances for the setting up of the project have been obtained" and "site location for 120 MW Power Plant has been finalized. The project is expected to be completed by March, 2011." The website of Binani Industries states that the company plans to set up 120MW power plant near its captive lignite mine at Nimbri, in Rajasthan. The mine will provide fuel supply for the captive power plant.

As of April 2015 the project has yet to receive environmental clearances, and is not mentioned in the company's 2013-4 Annual Report. It appears to have been abandoned.
