Background
The Nong Son power station was approved in November, 2004. The province was an investor. Construction began in April 2006, and China National Heavy Machinery Corp became an EPC contractor in 2008. for the scheme. Originally the project, budgeted at VND 529 billion, was to have been finished in 2010, but work stopped at the 55 percent completion point in April 2012 due to commercial disputes, and the Chinese workers then left Vietnam. In September 2012, the parties met to resolve the dispute, but no resolution was achieved. Boiler supplier Wuxi Huaguang Boiler Co then took over as EPC contractor and the plant was finished in 2014.[2]
