Background on Plant
The Novo-Angren power station consists of three 700 MW units commissioned in 1985 to 2000.[1]
In 2014 Uzbekenergo transferred five of the station's power-generating units to annual coal burning. The power station is fueled by the nearby Angren coal mine in the Tashkent region, whose production will double from 3.2 million tonnes to 6.4 million tonnes.[2]
In January 2014 Uzbekenergo said it plans for construction of an eighth unit with a capacity of 300 MW.[2]
However, as of May 2018 there have been no further reports on development of the new unit. It appears to be shelved.
