Background on Plant

The project was included in a June 2010 list of demonstration projects by the Russian government. Construction was supposed to begin in 2013 and be complete by 2015. In 2015 the project's sponsor ZAO Novorostovskaya GRES filed for bankruptcy and the project is cancelled.

The project is described as 1000 MW in the June 2010 list, but described by Platts in May 2019 as 4 x 320 MW.
