Background on Plant

The six-unit, 372-MW coal-fired Novosibirsk-4 power station is owned by SGK, which acquired a 78% stake in the station's operator Sibeko in January 2018.[1][2] The plant’s six units were brought online between 1953 and 1970.[3][4] In August 2018 SGK was acquired by Siberian Coal Energy Company (SUEK).[5]

In March 2018 it was announced that the plant would switch from burning bituminous coal to lignite because lignite is cheaper.[6] In June 2018 the capacity of Unit 4 was increased from 100 MW to 110 MW.[7]
