Background on Plant

Swedish-based Vattenfall proposed to build a 1660 MW coal-fired power plant in Opalenie through its Polish unit. In 2010 it was reported that Vattenfall decided to cancel the coal plant, along with its Pulawy power station, but may continue plans with building a power block for its Warsaw-based Siekierki power station, which was also later cancelled.
