PA Consulting Group
PA Consulting Group describes itself as "a leading management, systems and technology consulting firm. Operating worldwide in more than 35 countries, PA draws on the knowledge and experience of 3000 people, whose skills extend from the initial generation of ideas, insights and solutions all the way through to detailed implementation." [1]
In May 2004, PA won a deal with the UK Home Office to help design and implement biometric ID cards in the UK. Computing reported at the time that: "Sources close to the deal suggest it is likely to be worth around £10m over 18 months" [2]. In January 2005, The Register reported that the total number of people working on the ID card scheme had "more than doubled since last March, and the major beneficiary has been PA Consulting... The headcount is now 39 civil servants, three secondments (from the Passport Service, the Metropolitan Police and an external management consultancy) and 40 consultants from PA." [3]
