Background on Plant

The two 315 MW units went into commercial operation in 2011.[1][2]

Funding

PLN received a US$293 million loan from the Export-Import Bank of China to finance the Pacitan plant.[3]

Environmental Impact

Since the plan began operations in 2013, local residents have complained about coal dust and air contamination, a falling catch of fish for fishermen, coal dust killing turtles, and insufficient compensation from the plant's owners for their loss of livelihood.[4]
