Biographical Information

"Pamela Snider, ND was the founding executive director of ACCAHC. She received her ND degree in 1982 from Bastyr University of Natural Health Sciences. A nationally recognized integration and CAM policy leader, Snider is active in both national and local integration initiatives, including the executive team and board of directors of the Integrated Healthcare Policy Consortium (IHPC). Her work has included serving as a Medicare adviser, co-directing an exploration of the connection between public health and complementary and alternative medicine and playing an important role in drafting key language in the NCCAM legislation and participating in the White House Commission Report. From 1994-2003, Dr. Snider served as Associate Dean for Public and Professional Affairs and Associate Dean for Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, dividing her work between academic, and public affairs activities, including chairing the curriculum review committee and its interdisciplinary expert teams. She continues her academic and research work there as a member of the faculty. Her areas of expertise include: health care education; curriculum development; clinical practice; government and legislative affairs, public policy, practice, and complementary and alternative medicine research with an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration and public health. She was a co-investigator in the NCCAM-funded research study which developed the North American Naturopathic Medical Research Agenda. She also was an adviser the the NCCAM project on Financing Integrative Health Care at the University of Washington. Snider is presently and founder and executive editor for the Foundations of Naturopathic Medicine Project, an international textbook of naturopathic medicine. Snider has received the Ontario Naturopathic Physician of the Year Award, the Physician of the Year Award from the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), the President 's Outstanding Vision Award at Bastyr University, and AANP's President's Award."[1]
