Background

The current power station, which is owned and operated by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut, includes two 110MW units installed in the mid-1980's and two 210MW units commissioned in 2006-2007.

Expansion

An expansion of the power station to add two 250 MW units was completed in 2012 and 2013. The first 250 MW upgrade (Unit 5) was commissioned on May 24, 2012; the second 250 MW upgrade (Unit 6) was commissioned on March 11, 2013.
