Parsa East-Kete Basan coal mines

Location

Background on Mine
The 15 million ton-per-annum pair of coal mines are operated by Adani Mining, a subsidiary of privately-held Adani Group. The mine lies on the Hasdeo-Arand coalfield, which totals 5.5 billion tons of reserves (it is unclear how much of this lies under these two mines specifically).[1]
These mines have been extremely controversial, as they are located in a highly biodiversity-rich, densely forested area. Local villagers have repeatedly protested against the mines, and against other proposals to mine the Hasdeo-Arand coalfield.[2][3]
