Background on Plant

The two-unit, 217-MW coal-fired Partizanskaya power station is owned by RusHydro. The plant’s two units were brought online in 1959 and 1980.[1][2][3]

Environmental impact

In 2017 and 2018 several videos were posted on YouTube of black smoke emitting from the plant, and an employee of the plant reported that the smoke was coal ash escaping due to improperly fitted pipes and boilers.[4]
