Paul H. Nitze was the author of "NSC-68 (1950), and of the Gaither Report (1957)." He served as assistant secretary of defense for John F. Kennedy. "In the 1970s Nitze organized the Committee on the Present Danger, an anti-detente group, many of whose members joined the Ronald Reagan Administration. Nitze served as chief disarmament negotiator for Reagan administration...."[1]
Nitze died of pneumonia on 19 October, 2004.
