"Paula Vlamings is currently the Program Director at the Institute at the Golden Gate, an environmental institute whose mission is to promote dialogue, collaboration and action for a more sustainable world. Prior to the Institute, she was the Executive Director of small nonprofit organization but her background has been primarily in the public policy arena, with positions at the California State Legislature, the 9th Circuit of U.S. Courts, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, and the Presidio Trust of San Francisco. She has a B.S. in political science from Virginia Tech, and a Master's degree in Public Policy & Administration from California State University, Sacramento.
"Paula has lived in five different countries, and traveled throughout Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia, the Caribbean, and Central & South America. Her volunteer work has included a conservation project in Kenya, a community health project in El Salvador, and a girl's academy in Nanyuki, Kenya. She is fluent in Dutch, lives with her husband John, and dog Lola in Marin County, California. She takes every chance she can to explore the world and the amazing people in it." [1]
