Paynter Dixon Constructions

"First as a small building firm, then later as a major force in the commercial and industrial construction business, Paynter Dixon has been contributing to the shape of Australia since 1914. During the post war boom in the late 1940s, Paynter Dixon pioneered the design and construction concept, which incorporated all disciplines of a project into one competitive contract. This method proved so successful in satisfying client needs and controlling time, cost and quality that the Sydney-based company expanded nationally, opening offices in Brisbane and Melbourne in 1954.

"Paynter Dixon's pioneering spirit coupled with its ability to meet new challenges has resulted in a number of firsts. Paynter Dixon built the first Container Terminal in Australia, the first Sonar Acoustic Test Building, the first Aluminium Rolling Mill, the first Automatic Casting Foundry and the first Drawn Glass Works.

"The company was one of the first to use portal frame construction to replace the traditional saw tooth design. Drawing on the latest technological developments overseas, Paynter Dixon built the first new and most advanced Gamma Irradiation Facility in Australia for over 20 years." [1]
