Peter Szanton

Peter Szanton “serves as a senior strategist on public sector alignment of mission, strategy, budgeting, execution, and performance management. At the White House Budget Bureau (now the Office of Management and Budget), Szanton was responsible for the first application of the RAND Corporation’s Program Planning and Budgeting methodology to the Justice Department and the State Department among other federal agencies. He went on to become founding President of the New York City-RAND Institute.

“During the Nixon and Ford Administrations, Szanton served as Research Director for the presidential Commission on the Organization of the Government for the Conduct of Foreign Policy (Murphy Commission); He then served as Associate Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget during the Carter Administration. In 1985, he became president of Szanton Associates, consulting to governments and other non-profit institutions.

“Szanton is a past chairman of the Congressionally-chartered National Academy of Public Administration. He has authored several reports, articles, and books related to government best practices, including "Federal Reorganization: What Have We Learned" which he edited and co-authored with a number of other authorities in the field. Szanton began government service in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (International Security Affairs).

“Szanton holds a BA from Harvard College, an MA from the Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and an LLB from Harvard Law School. He also served as a Fellow of the Institute of Politics at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.” [1]
