Primex Technologies

In 1997, Primex Technologies was spun off from the Olin Corporation. (Also see John Merrill Olin).

Primex has been indentified as a fabricator of depleted uranium ammunition.[1]

January 6, 2000 --- Primex Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRMX) said it has entered into a new Strategic Alliance Agreement with Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTNA, RTNB) under which Primex Technologies will act as a preferred strategic supplier to multiple divisions of Raytheon Company. Executives from Primex Technologies and Raytheon will serve on a joint strategic council to identify existing and next-generation products to be manufactured by Primex and to share business information in order to develop and expand new opportunities. November 27, 2000 --- General Dynamics Corp. announced that it would buy Primex Technologies Inc., a manufacturer of munitions and missile components for US$344 million. In addition, General Dynamics would assume approximately US$170 million of Primex's debt. The transaction is expected to close in the first weeks of 2001. [3]

In 2002, Aerojet (a GenCorp, Inc. company) acquired General Dynamics Space Propulsion Systems. [4] This does not include the "Ordnance and Tactical Systems" (formerly Primex), leaving the ammunitions with GD.
