{{#badges: Tobaccowiki}} Project 1730, also known as the "Cadmium Project" was an effort in the mid-1980s by the Philip Morris tobacco company to produce a tobacco plant with lower leaf cadmium levels. Cadmium, a heavy metal, is poisonous and has deleterious effects on the lungs.[1]
