The Project for California's Future call themselves "is a non-partisan, non-profit educational foundation" which "is the definitive source for intensive high-quality campaign and communications training for California conservatives." [1][2]
"Founded by conservative leader Sam Hardage, the Project seeks to identify those who, with the right training, can assume private and public positions of leadership and responsibility." [3]
- Ron Nehring, executive director [4]
- "We hold programs all across California," said Nehring. "We've 'trained 400 conservatives in the last 18 months. We have held programs in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County, Fresno, the Bay area, Sacramento, and we're going to hold one in Modesto this weekend." He said that the programs have attracted a varied crowd. "You have a share of candidates, you have a share of volunteers, you have a share of staff," he said. "Their ages have ranged from 16 to 60."
- "Working with the Leadership Institute and Wirthlin Worldwide, PCF gets professionals to donate their time. "Faculty are volunteers, professionals who take the time to talk to fellow conservatives," said Nehring. "It's very intensive," said Hardage, "starts early in the morning and ends late at night." No one involved in non-partisan PCF, which is a 501(c)3, gets paid, he said. "Our overhead is zip," he said.
- ""We came to the conclusion that California was ready for a new generation of conservative leaders," said Nehring. "We didn't have a shortage of people with conservative ideas, but we had a shortage of opportunities to train people in organizing and communications."" [5]
